Tooth Disaster: Part 1

Hi all,

I was invaded by this molar annoying pain for at least 2 weeks. Yes, I had a toothache! It's excruciating. It's unbearable. It affects your life.

I hate going to dentist. Since young, I never had good experience with dentist or rather I have never come across a dentist whom I am comfortable with. Also, big major concern, the gum was inflicted with serious gum pain which is far too unbearable! I usually freaked out during every dental visits which I dragged myself to go or even not go! I rather gargle away Listerine than going dentist. I will try all kinds of remedies to reduce the pain, obviously it doesn't work at all. As the threshold of the pain has simultaneously reached the extreme max, I had no choice but to make a dental appointment.

Alright, let me run through my experience and slowly you will get the whole story.

A month or two ago, I had a bad-ass toothache, in real pain obviously, I needed a dentist. So I set an appointment and thought I would require extraction. I was extremely worried. I mean I hate that kind of experience really. I dragged myself to the neighbourhood dental clinic, clenching my teeth in fear. Hoping I can get through smoothly with just simple filling. Finally, it's my turn, I felt cold and frozen. And I make it clear to the dentist that I am terrified of dentist! He sat me down and check through my teeth. He said he can help clean up and see how it goes. So he started the cleaning, I felt the discomfort and the gum felt so sensitive. The procedure took about an hour of drilling, digging and scaling. It was tormenting for me. I hate that feeling. Finally, he finished off with the filling. And finger crossed, hoping everything will be alright so I can move on with my life. However, the dentist did warn me, this method might not work as I might have to go through Root Canal procedure. I have no idea what is it, I went "what do you mean by Root Canal?" Its the first time I heard of that, sounds really terrifying! So the next question I asked, how much is this procedure? I got a serious shock! It's $800, not including consultation and crowning. I exclaimed "crowning??". Yes, you need to crown the molar tooth after Root Canal, or else your tooth will break apart. Oh my gosh, its a shocking news to me! I'm seriously worried! So much to do on my little molar? And cost so much to just fix a molar? Anyhow, after the filling, I pray and hope for the best, hoping for no complication.

It's been over a month, the pain is back. It's really annoying. I had endured too long and pain has been really excruciating as I simply can't sleep, I will wake up feeling awake and feeling paranoid about the pain even thou I took panadol. It did help to stop the pain but I literally live on panadol over a week. I even ended up going to my GP and ask for sleeping pills and pain killer so I can sleep through the night. I was prescribed with antibiotic as well.

Before seeing the GP, I actually made an appointment with the dentist in a nearby mall, however, what is killing me is the dentist is on leave for a week! arrghhh, I almost went banging my head! And they said Root Canal treatment requires specialist to do it. A lot of questions went through my mind. What? What? What? What is going on? Why so complicated? Gosh... for a molar tooth.. arrgghhhh I'm trying to convince myself to extract that tooth. However, I was advised not to. Apparently, removing your molar will affect the development of other teeth. Meaning, the gaps between your teeth will be widened. I felt like shouting out loud.

Root Canal procedures can be subsidised but not claimable/deductible from Medisave.
I went through some hassles before deciding to go privatised. Meaning, I had no choice but to pay at premium rates. If you are referred by polyclinic, your cost will be partially subsidised. Its true, even for Root Canal, you will be subsidised up to 50% of the actual cost. Its a huge relief to your pocket. However, if you are willing to bear the pain for at least half a year, you probably can wait. As making appointment with polyclinic is like digging your own grave slowly. Meaning, if you have high pain threshold, go ahead and wait. As for me, I am in great pain, I can't go through the pain anymore. Its just too much of panadol that is in my body. It might be detrimental. And it affects my daily life as my mood is affected as I am in too much pain to even play with my kids. However, if you are alright to just extract the tooth, go ahead, its the cheapest and fastest way to end the whole pain series.

What is Root Canal? Root Canal Procedure

Root canal therapy is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected.
A root canal procedure is performed when the nerve of the tooth becomes infected or the pulp becomes damaged. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.
Root canal procedures have the reputation of being painful. Actually, most people report that the procedure itself is no more painful than having a filling placed. The discomfort experienced in the period leading up to seeking dental care is truly painful, not the root canal procedure itself.

Why Root canal? Myth about Root Canal

Restoring the tooth after root canal therapy is necessary in order to ensure the tooth functions properly. The appointments necessary to completely restore the tooth, in essence, should not be considered part of the root canal process.

XRay Room, look scary?

Experience with Root Canal
FYI, you might need more than one session, so I went through Root Canal procedure, it feels painless apart from the jab for numbing your gum. It's a lot of drilling and scrapping to endure. I hate that feeling! And I have a follow up treatment. And finally, I am required to go for crowning. So much to do for a molar! I would say the dentist is the best one around! She is really gentle and very careful! She explained to you and make you feel at ease. She is none other than Dr Chen Nan from National Healthcare Group Polyclinics. Do call the helpline to arrange appointment. The helpdesk lady, Catherine, highly recommended her! Catherine is the nicest helpdesk ever! I was so impressed which usually I am very skeptical with government customer service. Hahah... Oh well, she is the best!

Advice:
Good dental care will set you free from pain! Visit your dental clinic once a year to clean up your gums. It maintains and achieves a more healthy set of teeth. It is better than paying a premium rates to maintain a tooth.

Price:Total can hit below $3,000 including capping. No subsidy!

Ninja Warrior Cheongsam

Dear Mummies,

Yes, I named it "Ninja Warrior Cheongsam". It's the feminine ninja sort of version. It exudes power, loves and confidence of a lady. Especially a mummy who requires great amount of stamina to continue every single day! I personally require a nice outfit to brighten up my day! This dress is like my warrior suit, I can charge around freely amid my hectic daily schedules. Every mummy is like a modern female warrior who equipped herself to protect her empire A.K.A kids.

Back to my cheongsam craze again, I love it even more! Cheongsam is no longer outdated, in fact, it's fashionable and trendy! If you realised, its amazing how the designs of cheongsam evolves to what it is now.

Anyhow, I recently purchased a few lovely pieces and absolutely with no regrets. It just falls nicely on me. The material is so soft and comfy. These awesome dresses are from Lark and Peony. They are always working their best. Doing their best to launch the perfect pieces without fail. The owner/designer, Junie, of Lark and Peony is a pretty and chic babe who is very friendly as well. Do feel free to enquire if you have queries.

What so special about this NINJA CHEONGSAM?

I am crazy with those lovely prints that are nicely matched to the dresses. The uniqueness of those prints on the collar and belt of each dress really a piece of art. You can fold down the collar to show off the prints or just lift the collar up and pair it with the vibrant belt for a sophisticated look. It's not overly done, true to colour, position of prints are aligned (meaning, you see what you get from purchasing online), its threading is neat and the belt is the key to accenturate a beautiful silhouette. I mean I may not be an artist by profession, however, I do have an eye for arty-farty stuff.

Referring to the dress in following picture, they come in few colours such as black, navy, royal blue, beige and purple. I regretted not getting "The Princess in Aubergine" as I thought purple won't suit my skin tone, but I guess I am wrong. Haha. Well, its too late now. It's no longer in stock. So I should just go sob in a corner.

In a nutshell, I almost bought all the colours of this collection except for "The Princess in Aubergine". This collection is a MUST HAVE. Go grab from what's available before you regret! Basically, all these dresses from this collection, are ideal for smart casual functions or working days. Its not too formal. Great for OL and chic mummies. Not forgetting, you can keep the tradition, why not? I am visualising this dress in Maxi sleeveless version. wooo LOL.. think too much.

Check back on my blog for other Lark & Peony pieces.

I love Lemon! Lemon is my saviour!

Dear Mummies,

I recently found out this cheap and good pesticide. LOL.. Yes. Its definitely a good find!
I may be a mountain turtle but thru my experience, I am sharing so you can try! Especially, if you are like me, lazy mummy it is.

How I chance upon this wonderful remedy or trick or coincidence?
My hubby was down with flu, cough, fever virus so I thought since my mum passed me some lemons to make a drink, so why don't I just squeezed it in my common water container. Its a 1 stone kills 2 birds theory. So I thought lemon may be helpful to my ill hubby till he recovers. Then I found out lemon is good for throat infections, bacteria, etc. Which is why you have lemon detergent. Well, obviously, this is a very common remedy right? Ya its nothing.

So when I'm done with the squeezed lemon, I left it at the tap area. Usually, there are ants around for no reason, its kinda irritating as I rarely cook. Ya I am a lazy mummy, thanks to my mummy. haha... Its really effective, the next day, somehow, traces of ants are getting lesser and lesser. Even some irritating bugs! Yes, I found the best solution not 100% but safe solution. I have kids at home, so I don't have to go spraying poisonous insecticide anywhere in the house.

I hope I am not the only country bumpkin here! Well, I hope it is a great share! I will be leaving few lemon slices in the living room. It will freshen the air the house. It does. And I doubt anyone will say no to that scent. ya?

The following link actually give you a clearer picture on 45 uses of Lemon, that's alot of uses for a little lemon right? Do you know at least half? I don't.

Read: 45 uses for Lemon

Have a good read.

Happy national day!

Cheongsam Baby in Da house!

Dear Mummies,

Who doesn't love their own kids? Especially baby! I mean let's not talk about toddlers and grown up kids. I am referring to just BABY! Oh yeah! Babies are just so innocent and cute! They have the best skin and cuteness. Don't you agree?

The fact that having 3 kids, my current schedule is literally packed till the night! I still love and pamper my kids. All I need is a pat on my shoulder and more understanding from my hubby from my nonsense. Agree? Yes I totally take my hat off for those being a FULL TIME housewife. Its really tough! Its a slave job! I could not breathe even by just running around in the whole morning! And I am a working mother too. Yes, I am a working mummy. You need some cooling time away from the kids, this way you are able to recharge and give them all your best.

Enough of the rubbish talk. My baby girl is growing fast, and she is crawling and walking, the same usual cycle. As she is the only and youngest girl in my family, she definitely gettng a lot attention. Yes, after shopping for boys' clothes, I finally got a chance to shop for girls' clothes! Pretty girls' clothes. Basically, I can buy the whole world right? Haha.. Yes. Well, I mean I don't just go spending and wasting money on a little human. I still have expectation. Its just too much temptation, setting an expectation will definitely help! So why am I so eager to share this? As I so happy that I found a great dress for my little baby girl, traditional yet modern. If you realised, I actually wrote about my love for cheongsam, I would prefer my daughter to follow suit right? And this is why I am sharing. Cheongsam is for baby or toddler too! I am so glad I managed to purchase this dress for her, so to be kiasu, I even bought another dress for my girl too. In case, I couldn't find similar style.

The above Take A Side blue dress is from thehappycheongsam! She is so pretty in it. So princessy. Not forgetting about the ribbon headband, its a matching set. It comes with the dress. Oh ya! Haha.. She is only 1yr 3mths. They have the similar prints and different design in Pink. I bought that too. Its just too cute. Now its the time to doll her up, she probably won't let me when she is 10? We'll see. :)

The most happening part about this shop is, they have mama and baby set! Yes, they have the similar design that will match your daughter's. It's in my closet now. No regrets!

Check out their online shop, its available for preorder.

School Holiday? Don't Fret! Bring your kids to BeerFest!

Hi Mummies,

Wondering what to do during June school holiday with your kids in Singapore? Kids are quite a handful! They are so energetic and active. Keeping up with them really drain you out! Spend time bonding with them rather than ipadding them! They became really aggressive and arrogant after a long period time clinging to ipad.

Its probably late than never. BeerFest2014
http://www.beerfestasia.com/SG/2014/festival-info
"Beerfest Asia since six years ago to raise the profile of the beer industry. Since then the festival has grown bigger each year with an increasing level of consumer interest and appreciation, and a wider range of business opportunities for trade. Beerfest Asia is the place to be if beer is your passion."

Well, I was at the BeerFest with one of my kids. Yes, I have 3 kids, so I separated them in different locations so I can have a breather. So I decided to bring only one kid who is my no. 2. He is 3 this year. And I bought him along to BeerFest. He is the bubbly one and easier to handle compared to my 7 year old and a 1 year girl. So BeerFest obviously is ideal for Beer drinkers who love beer. Which I don't. Hahaha. Yeah. I hate beer in fact. However, going there to embrace the fest of course. It was pretty fun. But we are not used to beer crowds.. hahaha... Yeah. We are pretty much over the beer booze. We preferred whiskey crowd. Yes. Ah Tas! Aircon, enjoy and sipping away whiskey. Not too loud and smelly. Yes, SMELLY LIKE F... People actually puked as many should know. Anyhow, there are many varieties of beers in beer fest (estamated 500 different beers as you can see the stamps above), we have tried a few and that's about it. However, we somehow love this "Früli Strawberry Beer (Belgium)". Yes Strawberry! Its pretty surprisingly awesome!! Everyone’s favourite strawberry beer. Not gasey and it doesn't choke up my throat!

Back to my kids' activities, at BeerFest, they have Kids activities at Brewkids Playard (Only available on a Sunday, depending on their schedules) which is pretty cool. For age between 4-12, you can actually drop off your kids and off you go for your drinks! Remember to pick them up at 6pm.
http://www.buzzfeed.com/mikespohr/activities-that-will-keep-your-kids-busy-all-sum#2965572
Ironically, our group would rather stay put at the The Beam Suntory Whisky & Wine Experience with our kids. We didn't drop off our kids at the Brewkids Playard since they are only 3 years old. So we let them mingle with the whiskey crowds. It was a funny experience. As they enjoyed themselves being in the limelight with all the promo ladies. hahaha. Our kids are literally social butterflies. They managed to bring back some got nice freebies (cool sunglasses) and candies from the whisky ladies. As you will slowly figured why my little boy is really enjoying himself. Refer to the photos below. He is a happy boy. All the daddies are drooling and jealous. Hahha. Bring your kids along for freebies sake. :)

You love FREE PEOPLE apparels? Bohemian Fashion

Hi all,

I believe many of you have shopped with www.freepeople.com which is a UK brand for Bohemian fashion. Yes, I agreed, they have really pretty good bohemian sense. However, the pricing is ridiculously expensive. I love their clothes, I have a few. But somehow, not all of the products of good quality. However, from what I gathered from the website, its a good thing, they have reasonable return policy. Meaning, you can try to return your order, if you hate it.

Please note: I didn't personally try returning my stuff so I am not sure how easy it will or how difficult it will be. Do read their link for return policy.
http://www.freepeople.com/returns/

Did you know?

In modern usage, the term "Bohemian" is applied to people who live unconventional, usually artistic, lives.
Reflecting on the fashion style of "boho-chic" in the early years of the 21st century, the Sunday Times thought it ironic that "fashionable girls wore ruffly floral skirts in the hope of looking bohemian, nomadic, spirited and non-bourgeois", whereas "gypsy girls themselves ... are sexy and delightful precisely because they do not give a hoot for fashion".[1] By contrast, in the late 19th century and first half of the 20th, aspects of Bohemian fashion reflected the lifestyle itself.

So are you a Boho-chic? I admit, I like Bohemian style. It's a trending fashion yet not too loud in their very unique way.

Alternatively, you can try out this following web (http://www.treeoflife.com.au), they have pretty good sense of Bohemiam fashion too. I love their accessories thou! And their pricing is not like slapped in the face kind. Its very reasonable for Bohemian fashion lover! Australian brand. It seems that they don't ship to Singapore. However, you can swing by their shops if you happen to be travelling in Australia. Or you can go figure out looking for an agent who can ship the items to you.

Don't fret! Another recommendation.
A great shopping US website. http://www.boutiquetoyou.com - the-moment celebrity style and fashion. They are an online retailer who carries multi design labels. Great varieties. Beautiful designs.
I love their gypsy cover page thou. So romantically greek!  They offer internationally shipping.
So go ahead and shop away!Do note, they are not entirely bohemian style so you have varieties to select. Take it slow!

Happy shopping to all boho-chic!

Happy holiday to all kids!
Till I update.

Skorts or Shorts?

Hi all,

I am so in love with skorts. Pretty floral prints. It fits well in my daily activties.
The reason I love skorts mainly because its so casually pretty and its so practical for a mummy like me! I can be in skirt and and shorts in secs! Yes.

Recently, I have been tracking down many blogshops for lovely skorts. And I have found few beautiful pieces. Its definitely a keeper! The materials for these skorts are top quality excellent! It feels comfortable and 2 of the pieces are smooth materials. No colour run.

 Quality Cotton Material

 Quality Smooth Cotton material

 Quality Smooth Cotton material

The above 3 pieces are from MDS collections, there are other pieces but I didn't manage to grab it fast enough. I spotted them too late. Hopefully, they restock!

Few years back, Zara launched these brilliantly plain colour skorts as shown below and it was seriously selling hot! Everyone wants to own at least one of them. So crazy. And not long after, Qoo10.com.sg, started selling these skorts in different colours. Its selling like hot cakes too!

We used to have skorts two decades ago. But it was known as culottes. I didn't really like the designs. Some seem to have the impression of lingerie look alike? Especially those with laces along the hems. Just merely my personal point of view. However, for those with pear shaped figure, its not a good idea to wear culottes. It seems to widen your lower body.

The black and white floral prints skort is really a disappointment, the colour run like crazy! I soaked in vinegar for a night and it doesn't block the colour. And I have washed thrice, the colour still run! Apart from the color, its kinda loose for me. Blame myself for purchasing the bigger size.

Anyhow, if you are an active mummy, looking for practical ways to dress up, match up with any plain tops with these skorts, you definitely good to go. Its trendy and convenient.

Be a power mummy, keep up the trend with simplest ways and at affordable price!

Till I share again!

Reshape Eyebrow with Erabelle

Hey all,

Personally, eyebrows are considered the most important feature on my face. Its enhance your expressions and your look. Eyebrows are very important to us, ladies!
I'm the unfortunate one, as I always find my imperfect eyebrows difficult to maintain, its kinda lopsided. Sometimes, it took me about 20mins to draw my "perfect eyebrows". Its quite annoying after a long period of time. Especially, when you have to multitask in the morning i.e., to prepare the kids, shower, etc... time is everything to me. That crucial 20mins really mean a lot. You can actually chill and take a breather before you head out and begin the hectic day!

After much consideration, I decided to boost up my courage and went ahead with my erabrow experience. I was very worried initially, as I heard a lot of horror stories about how things went wrong during the process or the ugly end result, i.e., the uneven brow lines, wrong colour, etc.... Another fear would be whenever anyone mentioned embroidery eyebrow, many will relate to "So Auntie". "Only auntie will do this". You probably have seen a lot of aunties reshaped their eyebrows. And the results came "ewww". And probably after a period of time, the eyebrows colour turned greenish blue and transformed to unnatural arch brow lines. Which is really not what I am or you are looking at. Natural is the key. I do not wanna look like a witch. LOL.

15 January 2014,
Here's the photo before embroidery is done. It's really pain the neck to see my eyebrows out of alignment. Its just went out of the way. No matter how I draw it just didn't turn out well. And my eyebrows seem so faded, light and thin.

First step, the master artist started drawing out the perfect eyebrows with just normal eyebrow pencil and after you have approved her style and recommendation, she will get prepared.

So second step, here's when the numbing cream was applied on the perfectly drawn eyebrows, to ease the pain. I was waiting in the waiting area while the numbing cream taking its effect, it requires approx. 20mins before you start the process. And the lady behind as you can see she is working on another customer. And she will be the master artist for my eyebrows.

So 20 mins passed, nervously, seated at the dentist looking chair, lay down, and the master artist will show you the sealed up needle before the piercing. Or rather they call that needle "Erabelle’s Micropen". The master artist will be applying the
The pain score (out of 10, 0 = No Pain, 10 = Freaking Pain) : 2/10

Its bearable pain. She will continue applying numbing cream over the eyebrows for at least 4 times. So its not the pain you should be worried about. The whole process is about an hour. After the whole piercing, I do feel sore pain and numb. Its not annoying me, I can continue with my day. However, I was rather annoyed by the dark tone, as it seems very obvious. LOL. "SO auntie". I was a little embarrassed. Anyways, what done was done, so I have endured and hope for the best.

Aftercare, I was given a box of erabrow kit, its so well prepared. As you will be given instruction card in the box, so no worries, if you don't remember how it works. They have prepared a 5-days care steps to follow. So simply follow and you will be fine. And not forgetting, I was told not to wash my face for the at least 2 days, and not to swim or facial for a week.

2 weeks passed, my eyebrows started peeling off. Its kinda like the eyebrows are shedding dead skin. Anyhow, it doesn't hurt or anything, so its fine. It shed for few days, And done, it feels like a rebirth, your eyebrows look so perfectly natural! you will love your eyebrows even more. I basically fall in love with my new eyebrows.

When I head out to the beach, I don't have to hide my brows! So delighted. Its just too convenient. And No Hassle No Gain! Its been 2mths, my brows still look so natural! However, as its a semi permanent, so your eyebrows colour will be fading, you may start with some touch up with your eyebrow pencil, that's if you are bothered by the fading colour. But I will be going for my touch up next month definitely, No More Regrets.

This is not a sponsored blog. Its merely me sharing my personal experience.

"Erabrow is a bespoke semi-permanent colour service for your eyebrows. This service will lend colour and depth to pale, faded and naturally sparse brows and can restyle and reshape brows that have been over-plucked." From Erabelle

My advice:
Do a lot of research before you intend to make changes on yourself. It does help and avoid unneccessary fear or panic attack!

My Love For Cheongsams

Hey all,

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Another year has passed. And this year, its the Horse year! Well, Chinese New Year is the occasion we embrace our tradition. Yes, we spend our first Chinese New Year night together at home to Shou ye "守夜", which means night vigil. I was told that it represents togetherness. Chinese has so many sayings and traditions which were lost along the way. And when it comes to us, its history. One of the traditions, which I would love to follow which is wearing Cheongsam. Cheongsam goes a long way back,  which relates a lot on our chinese culture. Many years back, many chinese women will dress in cheongsam everyday.

Did you know?
"The original qipao was wide and loose. It covered most of the woman's body, revealing only the head, hands, and the tips of the toes. The baggy nature of the clothing also served to conceal the figure of the wearer regardless of age. With time, though, the qipao were tailored to become more form fitting and revealing."

However, when everyone is westernised, we prefer modern clothings than cheongsam. To be honest, not many ladies can fit into a body-hugging one-piece cheongsam. They find it too old fashion or too uncomfortable. In contrary, I'm in love with cheongsam and it does accentuate my figure. It exudes the classy feel and the demure woman in me. I didn't know Cheongsam can be fashionable! As the world is getting more creative and stylish, Cheongsam has evolved as well. My love for cheongsam has grown tremendously.

"I'm a cheongsam lover! I always find myself buying cheongsams irregardless if its for Chinese New Year or daily wear." I was wearing 3 cheongsams during this period of Chinese New Year. To many choices in my wardrobe! :)

Aquamarine feel. I love the details. You can see the paisley prints. It's in trend now.
This cheongsam goes well with a slim belt. After mix and match, I finally found myself matching with a sea green belt. Its from Lark and peony. I am a big fan of them. Although, I love their trendy prints. Anything with big flowers, doesn't go well. It kinda "auntie" for me.

Yokihi in Crimson Cubes
This is my favourite cheongsam dress. This piece is definitely a keeper! I'm not joking. It's the dress that I would love to wear it almost everyday! It just so pretty in red cubes prints! Nice fit. I call this rare encounter. Also from Lark and peony!

An evening waltz serenade
Comes with a beautiful belt. I managed to purchase this cheongsam, as most of their cheongsams sell out real fast. I didn't manage to secure most of their pretty pieces as I was always tied up with kids and missed the launch time. Quite disappointed. However, I was looking forward to their backorder of those popular pieces. So gonna get them. This unique piece is from ourbitsyprints. I purchased the last pc of Size M and had it tailored to my size. At least I secured this unique embiodery pc that comes with a custom-made batik belt, from my experience, most of their cheongsams don't come with a belt.

Watch for another post on my other favourite prints as well.

New year new look

Hey mummies,

I just coloured my hair.. :) Its gonna rock the Chinese New Year rite! LOL. I know! But it's too loud for a mummy of 3. Well, I just thought I would like to explore. Since I am still young, why limit myself? LOL. Before my kids turn teens, I should experience before getting labelled as "kiddy"? LOL. To begin with, I expected strips but they ended up like this. To be honest, it does look good but too loud. I do get compliments but I am not some Kpop stars so I better tone down the colours! This is probably the last look of the bright red! I love the based colour thou, my face seems rather slimmer? LOL. I will continue with the based colour! Love it.

Love
